The border crossing on the Top of the World is tiny. It was bumpier than the road! The town of Chicken turned out to be nothing. After a short lunch break we continued on to Tok for fuel. We kept driving toward Anchorage and spent the night in a pull out. Our stay at Fort Richardson's Black Spruce Famcamp was an opportunity to hit the commissary and class six (post liquor store) and to wash the RV. Glad I brought the pressure washer. We picked up Janice at the airport and headed to the Kenai Peninsula. Janice brought her Nanuk of the North hat but only wore it occasionally. The drive on the Seward Highway is beautiful and we pulled off several times to enjoy the view.
We camped in Soldotna and did a day trip to Homer which include a stop at the historic Salty Dawg Saloon. I won't repeat the story about the cute young girl that bought me a drink, though I have replayed it in my mind many times.
