Seward

In Seward we stayed at the Army resort. It's nice and the price is right, but the sites are too close together. They offer good discounts on all the tours. The staff is really friendly and helpful. We took an 8 hour tour of Kenai Fjords. Great trip with lots of wildlife and a great dinner of salmon and prime rib. We saw whales, seals, birds, and of course glaciers and ice bergs.

We dressed warmly, but it was a beautiful day and we didn't need our heavy coats much.

Our first tour while in Seward was a scenic helicopter ride to Godwin Glacier for some dog sledding. This was not high on my list, but it turned out to be a great adventure. We got to go mushing with some cute, loving dogs, guided by a couple of young guys that live on the glacier with the dogs. The youngest boy was 18 and training for the Iditarod. It was sunny and no wind on the glacier, so we didn't need our warm clothes again, but Nanook of the North wore her hat anyway.

Sue had to hold on to one of the snow studs to get back to the helicopter.
